ERIN HARKES | 04/15

SATURDAY, APRIL 15th, 9 PM.

It’s hard to say exactly what Erin Harkes is. She’s a singer/songwriter. She’s a full time musician. She’s also a part time standup comedian. Whatever she is doing she is doing it on stage!  Erin’s memories of being ignored as a child  have resulted in her being addicted to performing, whether it be in front of thousands of people in a music venue, or singing the National Anthem at the grand opening of a refurbished Walmart. She is a self-proclaimed performance “whore” – meaning she will do anything to perform in front of an audience.

Her music comes from triumphs over tragedy. Though sometimes somber there’s always a resounding theme of resilience. The power of her voice and the emotion that comes through her lyrics makes you want to sit and listen to every word.  Erin’s lyrics tell stories of her life, sang through a big voice that’s often compared to Janis Joplin.  Hearing Erin sing is a powerful experience that grabs anyone within earshot.

Erin’s spontaneity and willingness to perform won her a spot on “Battle of the Instant Bands” on the Jimmy Fallon show in April of 2010.  Having only 20 minutes to prepare with an impromptu band made up of complete strangers, Erin won over both Jimmy Fallon and the studio audience by naming the band (“Fallon Angels”) and the song (“Free Jimmy”) – the band performed the song with Erin on vocals to an explosive audience response and easily won the contest.

Erin is regularly voted Best Singer/Songwriter in the Capital Region by the Times Union Reader’s Poll and the Metroland Weekly.  She has been the subject of several cover stories by both of those newspapers.  She is definitely a local favorite. Erin has had the privilege to have shared the stage with national acts such as David Allen Coe, Leon Russell, Melissa Ferrick, Eric Burden and recently opened for one of her musical idols, Beth Hart.

Erin likes to say that music is her spouse and comedy is her mistress. She tries to give them equal amounts of love and attention. Whether singing songs or telling jokes, Erin commands attention every time she steps foot on stage.  And we all know Erin loves attention!

RICK REDINGTON & THE LUV |04/28 & 04/29

FRIDAY & SATURDAY, MARCH 24th & 25th, 9 PM.

An Organically Homegrown Green Mountain Rock & Rastabilly Trio of Free-Range Human Beings hell bent on doing it all on their own!

Trying not conform to any of the kitchee and sometimes degrading “labels” while still paying respectful homage to the greats that have helped form their core. Rick Redington & The Luv deliver shows with a style and class and heartfelt achievement that has taken years of wins and losses to develop.

A new record called “The Circus” is being released first on West Coast Radio, back to Vermont and now broadcast worldwide. This new effort finds R.R.&The Luv in some very good company. Besides the usual line-up of Rick /Guitars & StringedThings, Heather Lynne/Upright & Downright Basses and Blake Gowan on all things Drummable, in The Circus we find guest appearances by members of Legendary New Riders Of The Purple Sage’s own Buddy Cage/Pedal Steel and David Nelson/Mandolin as well as Professor Frank Chase on “Cathouse Piano” along with Walter White on “Savage Horns”.  The Luv is also very pleased to be joined by our three Wonderous Kids Zoe Mcfadden (Heather’s daughter) and Ben & Maya Redington (RR children) on Backup Vocals & Too Much Fun!

Nearly three years in the making during one of the most challenging economic times has produced an album of some considerable listening weight. Recorded at Mount Hollywood Studio in the Heart of Vermont and mixed with care by our friend Cooper Anderson, this collection of acts is strung together not unlike the ragged side-show circuses of the early days and reveals its worn out edges with much pride.
The Greatest Show On Earth is usually that which twists and turns itself around and one day shows itself to you in some freak show mirror reflected as your own strange yet wonderful life!

The Circus Ring Leader Rick Redington has released Six Albums to date and this very well could be THE BIG SHOW we have all been waiting for! Side Show Freaks Heather & Blake’s first studio effort shows them at the top of their game with sweet Bass & Drum Rhythms that take us from one end of the globe to the other and keep Spreadin’ The Luv!
